This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines CSS Europe’s commitment to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions in line with UK Government policy and PPN 06/21 requirements.

Commitment to Net Zero

CSS Europe is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in alignment with UK Government targets. As a small, software-focused organisation with a very low operational footprint, we prioritise prevention, efficiency, and digital-first delivery to minimise emissions at source.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

As a small organisation, CSS Europe’s baseline emissions are minimal and primarily associated with business travel, energy consumption, and IT equipment.

Baseline year: 2024

Emissions summary (estimated):

  • Scope 1 – Business travel (company vehicles): <1 tCO₂e
  • Scope 2 – Electricity consumption: <1 tCO₂e
  • Scope 3 – Employee commuting and hybrid working: <1 tCO₂e

Total emissions: <3 tCO₂e

Figures are estimated using energy usage, mileage data, and recognised conversion factors. As the business grows, emissions reporting will be refined accordingly.

Current Emissions Reporting

Reporting year: 2025

CSS Europe’s emissions have remained stable or reduced due to existing sustainability measures and low-carbon ways of working. Primary emission sources continue to be electricity use, limited business travel, and IT equipment.

Emission Reduction Initiatives

CSS Europe has implemented the following measures to minimise emissions:

Transport

  • Operates a fully electric fleet of company vehicles
  • Encourages virtual meetings and efficient travel planning to reduce mileage

Energy and Offices

  • Hybrid working model, reducing commuting and office energy demand
  • Energy-efficient lighting and office equipment
  • Responsible energy usage policies across all locations

Waste and Resources

  • Paper-light and paperless operations
  • Recycling of office waste and end-of-life IT equipment
  • Minimal use of physical consumables

Digital-First Delivery

  • CSS Europe’s software solutions actively replace paper-based processes with digital workflows
  • Customers are supported in reducing printing, physical storage, and manual handling, delivering indirect carbon reduction benefits beyond CSS Europe’s own operations

Planned Future Measures

CSS Europe is committed to continual improvement and plans to:

  • Review and update emissions data annually
  • Explore renewable electricity options where feasible
  • Strengthen sustainability considerations within supplier selection
  • Promote low-carbon behaviours across staff and partners
  • Continue enhancing software solutions that support digital, paper-free service delivery

Governance and Responsibility

Responsibility for environmental performance sits with company leadership and is reviewed as part of operational planning and decision-making.
